About Otis Redding
Forty years after his passing, the legacy of Otis Redding remains stronger than ever. As the decades have gone by since December 10, 1967 when the world tragically lost one of its greatest soul singers, the power and impact of this Georgia-born R&B pioneer’s music and career shows no signs of diminishing. Through a recorded legacy that spans a mere six years but is filled with classic after classic, the man whose distinctive music influenced British rock stars and his American soul music peers alike continues to be accorded and afforded the global recognition and (borrowing the title of one of his most enduring compositions)“respect” he richly deserves. The King of Soul...Otis Redding

  1. I just want to say that I have had the privilage of meeting the family of the Late Otis Redding and I found them to be greatdown to earth people. People come into this world for a very special reason and as we see, Otis knew what his reason was. Not only was he a great entertainer & singer but also and more important, a wonderful human being. The way he loved and cared for his family as a very young man limited to only twenty six short years showed that you have to first love yourself and your family before you can love the rest of the world and Otis did just that. There are no Gods in our world but God himself has given us special spirits like the one Otis Redding carried to bring a smile and a blessing to everyone he came across.
I was heart warmed when my friend Ben Cauley told me that Otis treated him and his late friends, “The Barkays” like they were his own kids. Great Man!
